Raise Your Self-Esteem With a Smile

Some methods of raising your self-esteem are easy, some are hard. Some are fun, some are boring. Why not choose the easy and fun ways of raising your self-esteem?

If you want to have a high self-esteem, try smiling. Smiles are magical. Think about it, few things are as contagious as a smile. A smile is also the best universally understood sign of happiness or good feeling in general.

There a several ways in which you can use smiles to raise your self-esteem. Here are some suggestions:

1. Smile at yourself in front of a mirror. When you do this “happiness hormones” are released in your brain. When your eyes see the image of you at the same time as these hormones are swirling around in you, your brain will start to associate the image of you with a pleasant feeling. You will program your brain to think that You = Good. The essence of self-esteem is the knowledge that you are good, so this is a very simple but powerful way of raising your self-esteem.

2. Smile at others! Many people unfortunately base their sense of how good they are on how others treat them. Although true self-esteem comes from the inside, you can still use others to help you raise your self- esteem. The more you smile at others, the more others will smile at you. The more you smile in the presence of others, the more smile you will be surrounded by wherever you go. If people often smile when they look at you it’s a lot easier to feel like a great person (and why not make it easy to feel great!)

3. Last but not least, try to simple smile. You don’t actually need a mirror or other people’s presence to raise your self-esteem by smiling. The more you smile, the better you get at feeling happy. Happiness is not something that happens to the lucky, it’s a skill that can be trained. Practice feeling happy and you will automatically feel happier about yourself.
